Naka-Tribe Feature #3:
Brent Burzycki
What got you started as a home theater enthusiast?
Love music and great movie sound, immersive experience to lose myself in another world. I have always enjoyed a way to escape from the day to day, this is one way to accomplish this. I also simply like learning to do new things and solve my own issues.
How did you start on your Nakamichi journey?
Lucked upon the CES information about Dragon. And also the past history of the Nakamichi name. Always has been associated with quality. Was concerned that this might have changed over time with the sale of the brand, but overall what sold me on this product was the passion of the CEO when presenting it.
Why did you decide on DRAGON, out of the many other audio systems available on the market?
My previous systems were a Denon-based receiver with Elac center, heights, sub and bookshelf-style speakers. I did two versions of this system, with the second going from an 8 to 10" sub. Before that, it was Denon with Definitive towers, center and surrounds. 10 years of putting together systems and never really getting the performance I wanted. I also wanted to reduce the wiring and complexity of my previous systems. Plus the look is just a conversation starter and overall I enjoy the technology and the cutting edge feel of the unit.

What are some of the ways in which your home theater experience has changed since your upgrade to DRAGON, as compared to your previous system?
Overall it is just a much better experience, bigger sound, better sound, and overall a more user friendly experience.
It exceeds my expectations and most things these days fail to ever do that anymore. Why have an ok system for 3500-4000 dollars when you can have a full theater experience for the same price.
Describe the bass experience from DRAGON's quad subwoofers, in terms of depth, power and tightness.
At times too much for where I can listen. But overall it is hands down better than anything I have used before or heard before at this price point. It adds depth and feel to just about all sources, even terrible ones. I really like the fact you can use from 1 to all 4 subs with a simple selection on the remote.
Tell us how the sense of height and spaciousness has improved with DRAGON, when listening to overhead effects.
Overall it is very good - But it is extremely impressive based on what media you are listening to. Best experiences come from the best media choices.
The most immersive so far has been the video game I like to play. Dragon has really shined, with me now being able to hear everything the game can come up with all around me.
What do you think of the overall experience brought about by DRAGON, when it comes to realism, directionality and clarity of surround effects?
I have been very impressed with all aspects of DRAGON. But the tweeters are above board and seem to really set apart the unit from others. Everything is very clear and concise. Overall just a really well thought out product.
Is it perfect, not if you ask the forums, but I also do not think I actually care about most of what they are concerned about. It is basically a perfect experience for me and in the end that is actually what matters.
Describe the overall music playback experience with DRAGON. Which is your favorite mode for music listening and why?
Overall I have not listened to enough music only on it as of yet, solely based on the fact I just have not had enough time to do so yet. I need to do more testing and listening, to really understand all the options available for straight music listening. What I have listened to sounded very good.
Anything else you would like to share regarding your Nakamichi journey?
Possibly the best customer service I have had with a company in years.
My unit showed up damaged and everything was done to resolve my issues. Keep up that great level of support, it is what wins customers these days in a time where customer service is basically dead.
